1971, color

In the latter part of this period, John began delving into color in the form of 35mm color slides. At that time, color slides could not be manipulated in a darkroom as he was able to do with the black and white pictures so they were a "what you see is what you got" phenomena but with the beauty of color. So they represented quite a change in the style of pictures taken. The pictures shown here are based on the original slides, but were scanned and then "manipulated" using Photoshop, the digital darkroom, which permitted many creative improvements to be made. The condition of the slides from this early period were in most cases extremely good, and required very little restoration. The same could not be said for color negatives taken a few years later in the mid to late 1970s.
